70.3 Singapore!!

It was fantastic! already one month passed from the 70.3 Singapore (Half Ironman) and have to say it was great fun :)

The 1.9 km swim was pretty messy, over 1000 people from different legs swimming in such small area, but I took it pretty easy, did it 44.05 min, then it came 90 km biking and I have to tell that my bike sucks, have a feeling that all the athletes pass me on the bike, either I was too slow or my 500 Euro aluminium frame road bike have some influence compared to normal triathlon recing bike, althought I complete it in 2h 59min and after that came the most painful part, the half marathon, 21.1 Km under very though conditions, over 30C and the sun on top of us, terrible, it took me 2h 13min to complete it, total time 6h 03min to finish my first Half Ironman.

Occur situation was the fact that I met during the half marathon the only Portuguese (apart of me) that was participating, while I was running saw an athlete which the socks had Brazilien flag, have asked him if he was Brazilien and he said "No, I'm Portuguese", world is pretty small, after the race had chat with him, nice guy, sad that few Portuguese participate in this kind of events!!

Now, looking forward for the next one, do I have balls for the full one?!?

Bike accident, one week from the big day!!

Today, Sunday fell from my bike while was doing the last 90km bike training for the 70.3 Singapore Ironman, was pretty bad!! Had to get stitches in 3 points of my left arm, no more training before the competition day!!

I'm happy that happen just in the end of the training program, hope will recover well during this week to be ready for next Sunday!

My plan for the race day is to take it very easy in the Swimming and Biking, not go over 140ppm, eat a lot and get in good shape for the half marathon, the weather will not help, Singapore in warm and humid as Thailand, have to drink lot of liquids.

Well, will be my first 70.3, lot of uncertainty, because never manage to get prepared as I should, so bit of suffering is given, hope to have fun as well!!

World is made of contrasts!!

World is made of contrasts, this week have been in San Jose (San Francisco/US), temperature ~15C, excellent weather for sports, did my running 2 days early in the morning and it was just suberb, trails along the river, chili weather, ducks and other birds flying around, fantastic!!

Arrived in Bangok yesterday, and went biking this morning, 5.30 am with 27C, drove 50km out of the city and guess what? raining like hell, did my 90Km in 2h50m and did not stop raining for a second, not so fun!!

Tomorrow (Sunday) have to wake up at 4am, drive somewhere in Bangkok to get registered for half marathon that starts at 5.30am, wish so babdly to be in a decent city where it is ok to do sports at any time!!

This is going to be tough!!

Here I am, starting week 12 of training for 70.3 Singapore, it is going to be really tough. I've not followed the plan has it should, very difficult while I'm travelling. Every time I want to cycle need to go 40 min. out of Bangkok by car, the swimming pool is at the university and sometimes is full of kids and the running at Lumpini sucks.

Well, it looks pretty depressing but this is real truth, the mood is really down at the moment, wish to live in the US where everything is green, clean, lot's of space, roads with no traffic... what should I do to get the confidence back? Not much of a choice, keep working hard on my mind to go out every day and get some training done!!
